The short version
AppScreenStudio is a template studio: pick a layout, drop your screens in, adjust text, export. Nuvex composes each frame from scratch instead. If you already know exactly what you want the frame to look like, a template studio gets you there with less back-and-forth. If you want the design decided for you, that is the whole point of Nuvex.
What AppScreenStudio actually is
AppScreenStudio is a browser-based editor built around preset screenshot layouts. You choose a layout, place your app screens into the slots, type your headline, pick colours, and export at store dimensions. There is a free tier, and the workflow is entirely manual and immediate — what you arrange is what you get.
Nuvex, by contrast, is not an editor at all: you upload your raw app screens and a sentence describing your app, and it returns a finished five-frame store campaign in about thirty seconds. Your uploaded screen is masked before generation, so your real interface passes into the output pixel-for-pixel while the AI designs everything around it.
When AppScreenStudio is the better choice
Genuinely — these are the cases where we would tell you to use it.
You have a specific layout in mind
When you already know the arrangement you want, dragging it into place is faster and more certain than describing it and evaluating a result.
You want free
The free tier covers basic exports. Nuvex gives you free credits to try, but sustained use is paid.
You want deterministic output
A template produces exactly the same result every time. Generation does not — you may regenerate a frame to get what you want.
You are making one small change
Updating a single headline on an existing set is a thirty-second job in an editor.
When Nuvex is the better choice
You do not want to make design decisions
The layout, palette, type and composition are chosen for your app. With a template studio you are still the designer; the tool just supplies the canvas.
You want a set that does not look templated
Preset layouts are shared by every app that uses them. Nuvex composes per app, so two apps in the same category do not come out looking related.
You want the whole set at once
A five-frame campaign with consistent palette, type and device treatment generates in 30–45 seconds rather than being assembled frame by frame.
Honest caveats about Nuvex
Nuvex gives you less direct control. You cannot nudge an element three pixels left — you describe the change and the frame re-renders. If pixel-level placement matters to you, a studio editor is genuinely the better tool.
Nuvex also makes still frames only — App Preview video needs a different tool, and we would rather say that than sell you a workaround. And it never puts invented star ratings, unearned award badges or fake press logos on a frame.
Frequently asked questions
Is AppScreenStudio free?
It offers a free tier for basic exports. Nuvex gives free credits on signup with no card, then charges for continued use and watermark-free downloads.
Which is faster?
For a full five-frame set from nothing, Nuvex — about 30–45 seconds versus assembling each frame by hand. For one small edit to an existing frame, the editor is faster.
Try it on your own screens
Free credits on signup, no credit card. Generate a set and compare it against what you would get anywhere else — that comparison is worth more than any feature table.
